Hello, my name is

Yan Etchevary

Who am I

Over the last ten years, I have worked in the music industry as a singer, songwriter, and composer. During that time I've used my experience from College and in the professional industry as a charting artist to help create and produce international radio hits.

2011

I entered the professional music program in 2010 at Campus Notre-Dame-de-Foy in Quebec. I grew and learned a lot from the experience and in 2014 my music career started with the creation of June 21, a country band signed by Father & Son Records. We produced and launched our first EP “Summer Love” in 2014 and a second one “A Little Bit Stronger” in 2015. With the help of radio promoter Nathalie Corbeil, our song “A Little Bit Stronger”, produced by Guy Tourville, propelled our band to fame throughout the province of Quebec. With this came live radio and television performances with multiple showcases in Montreal. The band separated in 2015 as we all decided to pursue solo careers.

2015

At the end of 2015, I released the song “The Way You Want Me” with the producer Lucky Rose and Higher Reign Music Group. To this day it has more than 12 million plays on Spotify and not only did the song was nominated for the Canadian Music Week, but it was also bought and signed by Ultra Records, a label which signed well-known industry stars like Calvin Harris, Avicii, and David Guetta. During that time, I teamed up with John Nathaniel (producer and winner of multiples SOCAN awards) and the late Tom Coyne (legendary music engineer who worked with Adele, The Weeknd, Sam Smith, and many others) to explore Pop music in a more detailed manner. With this collaboration, I released the song “Think of You” with Mama’s Boy Records. The song had an average playing time on DBS radio stations in Montreal and the music video was nominated at the “Fête du clip de Montréal”.

2018

In 2018, I joined MBMC Music, a company based in Montreal. During that year, I worked with different songwriters and producers and explored Pop and R&B music. I teamed up with songwriter Nessa Roque and released a single called “Everytime” under Higher Reign Music Group/Sony Music Canada. This song has been featured on major Spotify playlists such as New Music Friday Canada, R&B Right Now, Fresh Finds, Go Pop, Introducing, Le motto, and many others. The single has now reached over 77k streams on Spotify.

2019

Mentored by producer Youssef “Pako” Mamouni, I co-wrote songs for several artists, including the song “Alone” by Canadian singer Joshua Moreno, which appeared in the 3D animated film “Snowtime” and got to be on the winning album in the category « Best Youth Album of The Year » at Gala ADISQ. After that major break through in the french Canadian industry, I wrote songs for The Voice Winner; Valerie Carpentier, coaching and producing singers well known in Montreal.

2020

I am one of 48 students chosen between thousands of applicants around the world to go to this very exclusive school program called LIMPI, Lillehammer Institute of Music Production and Industries. Teachers and mentors at the school include:
    ○ Sarah Hudson (Britney Spears, Dua Lipa, Troy Sivan, Charlie XCX, Rita Ora)
    ○ Tor Erik Hermansen, Grammy winner and member of duo producers “Stargate” (Beyonce, Sam Smith, Katy Perry, Sia, Rihanna, Mariah Carey, Selena Gomez, Coldplay and many more)
    ○ Andreas Schuller (Justin Bieber, Jessie J, Jason Derulo)
    ○ And more…
During this program of 9 months, I would learn in detail how to write and produce hit songs. Eat, sleep, create and repeat. I was the only one at the end of the program to finish with a total of 100 songs to add to my catalogue.

Today

Now Living in Montreal and with more than 400 complete songs in my catalogue, a jazz vocal training and a lot of experiences in my pocket, I have all the tools to write and compose songs with a strong point of view while still staying very relevant to today's sound. I am always searching to learn more and to collab with upcoming artists producers and songwriters.
